  • Cardamom powder- a pinch
  • Jaggery- ½ tbsp.
  • Ghee- 1 tbsp.


  • Soak the barley for 10 minutes.
  • Puree the carrot with some water.

  • Add in the carrot puree and mix for about 2 minutes on a low flame.
  • Mix in the jaggery and cardamom powder.
  • Let the excess water evaporate. Take it off the heat.

  • Cooked and peeled Sweet Potatoes- 1 cup
  • Peach puree- ½ cup
  • Cooked barley- 1 cup
  • Ginger-1 pinch
  • Nutmeg- 1 pinch (for babies over 8 months of age)
  • Cinnamon- 1 pinch
  • Breast milk or formula (for babies under 12 months) / Cow’s Milk (for babies over 12 months)


  • In a small bowl, mix all the ingredients together.
  • Mash them well until you have a smooth paste.
  • Mix in the breast milk/cow’s milk/formula as per the consistency that you prefer.

  • Chopped onions- 1
  • Chopped tomato- 1
  • Chopped garlic- 1 clove
  • Cumin Powder- 1 pinch
  • Turmeric powder- 1 pinch
  • Cereal oats- 3 tbsp.
  • Oil- 1 tbsp.


  • In a pot, heat some oil. Sauté the onions and garlic until the onions are pink.
  • Add the tomatoes and allow them to cook slightly.

  • Powdered jowar – ½ cup
  • Oil – 1 tsp
  • Chopped mixed vegetables (Include cauliflower, green peas, carrots and French beans) – 1 cup
  • Mustard seeds for seasoning
  • Asafoetida- a pinch


  • In a bowl, boil the water.
  • Add the vegetables and the salt to it.
  • Cover and let the vegetables cook till they are tender.
  • Mix in the jowar powder and stir until it is cooked. Keep stirring to avoid lumps.
  • In a separate pan, heat some oil.
  • Add the mustard seeds and the hing. Allow the mustard seeds to crackle.
  • Season the jowar pudding with the mustard and serve.

#10. Instant Bajra Porridge (For kids over 12 months of age)


  • Cooked bajra – 1 cup
  • Buttermilk – 2 cups
  • Salt as per taste


  • In a bowl, mix the cooked bajra and the buttermilk together.
  • Mix in some salt.
  • If your baby is not 12 months old, you can skip the salt and just make porridge with buttermilk and bajra.

#11. Carrot Broccoli and Foxtail Millet Porridge


  • Chopped Carrot – ¼ cup
  • Foxtail Millet or Millet powder of your choice – 2 tbsp.
