For most babies, teething starts around 4-6 months of age. Swollen and tender gums can make life miserable for your kids. If you notice your baby putting his/her hand in the mouth more often around this age, he/she is probably experiencing irritation in the gums! Teething gums can make your baby cranky and irritated. He/she may also experience loss of appetite and appear to be less active. However, there are home remedies to soothe painful gums during teething as well.
The babies’ teeth can erupt one at a time or several at once. Mostly, there is an order in which the teeth appear. The bottom two in the middle will appear first, then the top two and then the ones at the side and the back. The last set of teeth comes around your baby’s 2nd birthday or, after that. By age 3, most of the babies have a full set of 20 teeth. The teeth start falling by the age of 6 until the permanent teeth come out.
Most babies get some relief when they chew on teething toys. Teething toys are a great way for your baby to keep his mouth busy but not all are safe, so choose carefully after reading manufacturer’s instructions. There are various teethers available in the market but you can also try to treat teething problems using home remedies. Given below are some home remedies to soothe painful gums.
