How to Prevent Hair fall during & after pregnancy?

#1. No tight styling please

Do not style your hair tightly like in a ponytail, tight braids etc as it pulls the hair and creates stress on your hair shaft.

#2. Keep that brush aside

Once you’ve combed your hair, keep that brush aside. Over-brushing also leads to hair fall. Also, do not comb wet hair as it is fragile and can break easily.

#3. Dry your hair gently

While drying your hair, just pat dry. Vigorous rubbing can lead to hair fall.

#4. Choose your comb wisely

Always use a wide-toothed comb that has soft bristles. Fine-toothed combs pull the hair more.

#5. Watch your diet

Eat a healthy and nutritious diet with lots of green leafy vegetables to add strength to your hair.

#6. Avoid applying heat

Minimize the use of heat while styling your hair. Blow dryers, hair straighteners, curling equipment etc make the hair weak and this leads to hair fall.

#7. Change your hair cleanser

Look for a mild shampoo and conditioner which doesn’t have harsh ingredients. You may also try an organic hair cleanser.

#8. Condition your hair

Treat your hair to a natural deep conditioning since most women’s hair becomes dry during pregnancy.

#9. Take supplements

You may consult your gynaecologist and take some health supplements to combat any nutritional deficiency.

#10. Avoid stress

Avoid-stress

Stress and anxiety lead to hair fall and is a vicious circle. The more hair you see falling, the more stressed you’ll be and vice versa.

It is normal to lose about 80-100 strands of hair every day because of hair fall during pregnancy, but if you notice yourself losing too many hairs, consult your doctor so that the problem can be investigated further.
