Do you think your child asks too many questions? Are you scared of answering some of the trickiest ones?
Well, most kids are curious. Through their questions, kids try to understand the world around them and how it works. Sometimes, these questions can be embarrassing but they can be answered by providing some very basic and simple information.
Agreed, you may not have all the answers ready all the time. However, take these questions as the best opportunity to talk to your little ones and understand what is going on inside their little heads.
Here are some common questions kids ask and the best ways to answer them. Hope this lends some idea.
What you should know
Death of someone close often scares kids and they become concerned about their own safety. They fear death will take their loved ones away, permanently.
What you should tell your kids
Before answering, ask them what do they think why people die? This will help you judge your child’s line of thought. If your kid is worried about his security after you are gone, assure him that you will make sure someone responsible is there for him. Explain that while those dead, are not seen in person but they remain with us in our memories and become our guiding force.
What you should never say
Never give unrealistic assurances. Telling them that nothing will happen to you or your family is not a good idea. Let them mourn the death of their pet, instead of buying a replacement immediately.

It depends on your own religious and spiritual beliefs. Look at your own values in life and then decide whether you should tell your children that God is watching everyone or not. If you don’t believe in God then you can say that there are people who believe in this idea and it is fine to have different views on this subject.
What you should never say
Do not portray God as someone who is there to punish people. This can make them scared about the entire idea of God and religion.

What you should tell your kids
There are body parts that we cannot use in public and this is the reason they are called “private”. It does not mean we are ashamed of them, but simply that they have a purpose, which is achieved in privacy. For example, going to the toilet is private and nobody should see you while you are using the washroom. Similarly, you should not let anyone touch those parts because that is intrusion to your privacy and is considered a ‘bad touch’.
What you should never say
Never introduce an element of shame, guilt, or punishment when talking about the genitals. This can make kids feel guilty about their own body.

What you should never say
Don’t say that because you are adult, you have the right to stay up late. This can build a sense of arrogance in them.
