Baby weaning recipes that are sure to help your baby wean easily
#1. Paneer and Wheat Pulao
This is a tasty baby led weaning recipe that is ideal for babies between 10 to 12 months of age
Ingredients
- Broken wheat or dalia, drained and washed- 2 tablespoons
- Paneer cubes- ¼ cups
- Ghee- ½ teaspoon
- Cumin Seeds- ½ teaspoon
- Finely chopped carrot- ½ cup
- Pinch of salt (optional)
- Finely chopped coriander- 1 teaspoon
Directions
- In a pressure cooker, heat some ghee.
- Add cumin seeds and broken wheat and saute.
- Mix in the carrots and paneer. You can add salt if you want to. Stir it around for some time and then add ¾ cup of water.
- Allow it to pressure cook up to 3 to 5 whistles.
- Once it is cooled down, garnish with coriander leaves and serve.
#2. Cabbage Moong Daal Khichdi
This is an easy baby led weaning recipe that is also a great source of protein. This is also ideal for kids between 10 to 12 months of age.

Ingredients
- Finely chopped cabbage-1/4 cup
- Split green moong daal- 2 tablespoons
- Washed and drained rice- 2 tablespoons
- Cumin seeds- ¼ teaspoon
- Ghee- ½ teaspoon
- Turmeric powder- 1 pinch
- Hing- 1 pinch
- Salt if needed
Directions
- In a pressure cooker, mix in the daal and rice and cook with 1 cup of water for three whistles.
- In a pan, heat the ghee and add the cumin seeds and asafetida.
- Stir for 5-6 seconds and mix in the cabbage. Saute till cabbage is soft.
- Add the mixture of daal and rice to this along with turmeric powder and salt (optional).
- Cook for 1 minute on a medium flame and your porridge is ready.
3. Ragi Halwa
This is a tasty baby weaning recipe that is extremely rich in
iron. It can be given to kids from the age of 6 months.
Ingredients
- Ragi- 1 cup
- Jaggery- ¾ cup
- Pure Ghee- ¼ cup
- Cardamom powder- 1 tablespoon
- Coconut milk- 1 cup
- Water
- Cashew nuts- 4
Directions
- Soak the ragi overnight.
- Drain and grind with one cup of water to make a smooth paste. Sieve the paste using a muslin cloth. This will make it smooth.
- In a pan, heat the ghee and add the ragi paste, coconut milk, ghee, jaggery and cardamom powder.
- Stir till it is cooked and becomes thicker.
#4. Apple Khichdi
This is a unique baby led weaning recipe that your little one will love. It is tasty and nutritious, ideal for children above the age of 6 months.
Ingredients
- Rice- 100g
- Moong Daal- 30g
- Apple- 1
- Cinnamon powder- ¼ tablespoon
- Salt (Optional)

Directions
- In a pressure cooker, steam the apple and puree it in a food processor.
- Soak the rice and dal for about 20 minutes and cook them in a pressure cooker till soft.
- Mix in the apple puree and cinnamon salt to make your khichadi.
#5. Ragi and Oats Ladoo
This easy baby weaning recipe is sweet and tasty and will be enjoyed by kids between the ages of 10-12 months. It is easy to pick up and eat on the go as well.
Ingredients
- Ragi Flour- 1 cup
- Oats – ½ cup
- Ghee- 1 ½ cup
- Cardamom powder- 1 tablespoon
- Jaggery- 1 cup
- Cashew nuts- 12
Directions
- In a non-stick pan, roast the oats and grind in a blender to make a fine paste
- Melt the ghee and add ragi. Roast for a few minutes.
- Remove it from heat and mix in the jaggery ensuring that there are no lumps.
- In a bowl, mix ragi, oats and the cardamom powder. Let it cool down.
- Grease your palm with ghee and make small laddoos.
