#2. Historic Walk

Take your kids to see some historic places. Depending on your child’s age you can ask them to list out places to visit or you can do it yourself. You can schedule a trip to Gandhi Smriti, Raj Ghat, India Gate or Red Fort if you are looking for places to visit in Delhi. Or you can even look for Agra Fort (Agra), Jallianwala Bagh and Wagah Border (Amritsar), Kirti Mandir (Porbandar) and Sabarmati Ashram (Ahmedabad).

#3 Tricolour Food and Party at Home

Your kids will not only love to have these during Republic Day but will also be overexcited to prepare these delicious tricoloured foods. You can prepare tricoloured rice. Use ingredients that have an orange and yellowish tint to them, such as carrots, pumpkins, and saffron, to make orange colored rice. To make green colored rice, you can use green peas, spinach, spring onions, and beans. Later while serving you can ask your child to serve in such a way that it resembles the color placing the Indian Flag. You can also make tricolored salad, puri, pasta, chutney and many other similar food items.

Start by helping your kid to decorate the room for tricolour theme party. Make the decorations based on the three colours of the Indian Flag. As a part of the theme party, ask your kid to make sure that everyone who attends the party is dressed up in colours of the National Flag.

#4. Essence of Republic Day through Books

Don’t just spend the day as any other holiday, rather help your kid understand the importance of the day. Take your kid to the nearby bookstore or the local kids’ library and help them search books related to Republic Day or Indian History or an autobiography. Spend some time with them discussing about different topics such as – life of freedom fighters or maybe about the life during the time India was struggling for its freedom.

Kids love to create crafts and play with colors. Doing so in a special occasion give them immense joy. To name a few you can help your kids create Thumbprint Bookmarks, Elephant Mask, Tiger Handprint, Paper Plate Peacock or simply Draw Indian Flag.
